Carrick Flyers 40 Craigavon Eagles 53
A lacklustre performance sums up the state of the Carrick Flyers' opening game this season. With a reduced player base due to injury and other commitments the players took the court against a Craigavon team who didn't look to be too much of a threat with only 8 players in their squad.
However, the visitors took an early lead and only free throws scored by Brian Whann and John Hurson kept Carrick in the running at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter faired little better for the home team with them racking up fouls and giving Craigavon more chances to increase their lead from the free throw line.
With only 6 points scored in the entire third quarter to the visitors 16 Carrick looked out of the running but a good spell in the fourth with a pressing defense caused Craigavon to turn over the ball and get Carrick some easy scoring opportunities.
A bad performance overall and one that the team can hopefully learn from as the season progresses.
